A Human Visual System-Based Objective Video Distortion Measurement System

چکیده
Recently, it has become increasingly important to devise video quality/distortion measurement algorithms that help to evaluate, compare and improve video coding techniques, and hence to provide effective digital quality video services. This paper introduces a practical model for objective visual distortion measurement of compressed videos. The model is established by making use of both spatial and temporal human visual system (HVS) features, which include spatial frequency sensitivity, luminance masking, texture masking, temporal frequency sensitivity, and shortterm memory effect. A ‘Video Compare’ software is developed to demonstrate the system. Key Words-Human Visual System, Video Distortion

A Machine Learning Approach to No-Reference Objective Video Quality Assessment for High Definition Resources
The video quality assessment must be adapted to the human visual system, which is why researchers have performed subjective viewing experiments in order to obtain the conditions of encoding of video systems to provide the best quality to the user. The objective of this study is to assess the video quality using image features extraction without using reference video. RMSE values and processing ...
متن کاملObjective and Subjective Measuruments for Video Compression System
In this paper the extent to which the quality of video signal is degraded by process of compression and decompression is considered. Traditional objective video signal quality measurements based on static test signals are not able to characterise the picture degradation due to compression and decompression. These measurements are indirect and resulting distortions of test signals determine vide...

Gait rehabilitation systems provide patients with guidance and feedback that assist them to better perform the rehabilitation tasks. Real-time feedback can guide users to correct their movements. Research has shown that the quality of feedback is crucial to enhance motor learning in physical rehabilitation. Common feedback systems based on virtual reality present interactive feedback in a monit...
متن کاملA Novel Approach to Background Subtraction Using Visual Saliency Map
Generally human vision system searches for salient regions and movements in video scenes to lessen the search space and effort. Using visual saliency map for modelling gives important information for understanding in many applications. In this paper we present a simple method with low computation load using visual saliency map for background subtraction in video stream. The proposed technique i...
متن کاملCVQE: a metric for continuous video quality evaluation at low bit rates
Many current quality evaluation models were designed to produce a single estimate of perceived quality for a video sequence coded at relatively high rates. These metrics perform a multi-channel decomposition to simulate the processes of the Human Visual System (HVS), followed by a distortion pooling stage that collapses the channels over frequency, time and space. Estimating quality at short in...
